The Winter Park Common Plan still faces pushback

The Winter Park Commons project, a 53-unit townhome development, faces opposition from residents who want more single-family homes in their neighborhood. The 4.5-acre site, which the Patmos Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church previously owned, is where the project will go. The new owners, Metro Winter Park, LLC, seek conditional use approval and have previously complied with Planning and Zoning Board requests. However, the plans face additional opposition. Residents voiced concerns over parking and traffic at the Oct. 25 commission meeting. A proposed widening of the Swoope Avenue right of way and a Webster Avenue entrance/exit redesign were also addressed. However, commissioners and residents felt that concerns over neighborhood compatibility needed to be properly addressed.
